Consultant Spotlight - February 2025

How long have you been with miLEAD? 

I joined miLEAD in October of 2021, so over three years.

What is the focus of your research?

I am studying the impact of genetic determinants on immunopathology of infectious diseases. Specifically, I am investigating the impact of TNFRSF13B polymorphisms on B-cell responses.

What are your current career goals?

My experience in miLEAD has strengthened my interest in solving biological problems from an industry perspective, whether as a scientist or in a role focused on administrative or business decision-making.

What roles have you played on projects? 

As a consultant, I’ve worked on various projects, conducting primary and secondary research for companies ranging from waste collection vehicle manufacturing to infectious disease diagnostics. I later stepped into a leadership role as a project manager to work with a client who is developing a plant genomic analysis software.

What led you to seek out miLEAD?

From the start of my PhD, I knew I was interested for a career in industry after graduating, so I was eager to find opportunities to explore how I could apply my research skills outside of the academic world. miLEAD has been an invaluable experience, both through the projects I’ve worked on and the professional development events it offers.

Since joining miLEAD, what skills have you been able to develop?

Being part of miLEAD has helped me develop a variety of valuable skills, including teamwork and collaboration. I’ve also strengthened my analytical abilities by conducting research beyond life sciences, analyzing business and financial data, and presenting findings to clients. Tackling real-world health challenges has pushed me to think creatively and sharpen my problem-solving skills. Additionally, serving on the board has given me firsthand experience in making strategic decisions that contribute to the organization's success.

What has been one of your most rewarding experiences thus far working with miLEAD? 

Being part of meaningful projects in the miLEAD community has been incredibly rewarding. I get to make real contributions in helping clients achieve their goals while working alongside talented, driven, and like-minded individuals—many of whom have become friends of mine. The clear, achievable tasks with defined deliverables are especially satisfying, especially when I see clients gain valuable insights during our meetings.
